When the ambient temperature reaches 71°C (standard), the fusible link melts, triggering the valve to close or dump fuel immediately. This automatic action helps to prevent escalation of fire risk, keeping personnel and equipment safe.

Each Free Fall Fire Valve is powered by a drop-arm or dead-weight system, where the weight begins to fall before it moves the valve lever. This pre-drop design ensures momentum is built up, allowing reliable valve activation even under marginal trigger conditions.
